    WHAT HAPPENED?

    Jose Riveiro had been serving Orlando Pirates from the 2022-23 season to the 2024-24 campaign.

    The Spaniard has been linked with a move to Al Ahly, who are without a coach following the sacking of Marcel Koller.

    During his time with the Soweto giants, Riveiro won a total of five titles.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

    Many names have been linked with a move to Pirates to continue with the work done by the Spaniard.

    Former Pirates assistant and co-coach Fadlu Davids is among the names that have been mentioned on several occasions.

    Some supporters feel he is the right man to succeed Riveiro.

    In his recent interview, the tactician has responded to the Sea Robbers' links.

    WHAT DAVIDS SAID

    “I think let’s just clear it up now,” he opened up to iDiski Times.

    “There’s been no contact from Pirates, definitely not. And like I said at the moment, no, there’s not really an intention to come back right now. Like I said, I still have a year left.

    “Let’s finish the season and, like I said, try to fulfil the contract that’s left, and then we see what’s next after that," Davids concluded.
