The forward also picks up the FIFA Young Player of Award, beating Mexico's Giovani dos Santos and Ghana midfielder Andre Ayew, capping what was a truly remarkable summer for the forward, who, going into his first World Cup, had yet to score for the senior national side.

Mueller finished ahead of Spain's David Villa and Wesley Sneijder, having contributed more assists, three in total, after they all finished with the same number of goals.
The Spaniard picked the Silver Boot, having featured in less of his side's matches (634 mins) compared to the Dutchman (652 mins). Meanwhile, Golden Ball winner Diego Forlan finished in fourth place with five goals also, but over 654 minutes.
Mueller bagged his first goal of the competition in Germany’s opening match victory over Australia, scoring the third goal for Joachim Loew’s side in their 4-0 victory.
Defining moment

His decisive fifth strike would occur in the third-place play-off against Uruguay, after Spain, the eventual winners, eliminated Germany in the semi-finals.
