The opener arrived in the fifth minute. Armenia's Edward Spertsyan slid a magical pass through, Toney ran clear one-on-one and slotted home to register the first of Al-Ahli's goals on the night.
He wasn't done. Al-Ahli won a penalty in the 13th minute and Toney stepped up to convert it, doubling the lead and completing a remarkable eight-minute double.

That first strike against Abha carried extra weight. It was Al-Ahli's first goal on their own pitch in the Roshn League this season, and it extended Toney's scoring run into a third straight campaign in the competition since arriving in Saudi football.
Last season told the same story. Toney finished second in the Roshn League's scoring charts with 32 goals, a second successive year among the leading marksmen and proof that his fast start was no flash in the pan.
His double against Abha fired an early warning to the rest of the division: he remains one of the most dangerous strikers in the Roshn League. Spertsyan, meanwhile, underlined his own threat as a creator, teeing up the first goal on a night Al-Ahli set the tempo from the off.
