Tristan Gooijer's transfer to Lommel SK now looks set to go through after all. Earlier, the move had been in danger of collapsing, but there is now almost white smoke according to De Telegraaf, while Ajax have also negotiated a buy-back option.
Ajax and Lommel agreed a fee some time ago of around half a million euros for the 21-year-old right-back. Negotiations between Gooijer and the Belgian club then became so difficult that the deal appeared likely to fall through.
That has now changed. De Telegraaf report that the move is close again and the parties involved have almost reached a final agreement.
Ajax have included an important condition in the agreement. If Gooijer develops well at Lommel, the Amsterdam club can bring him back to the Johan Cruyff ArenA for several million euros.
Even with a permanent exit, Ajax would still retain the option to re-sign the defender in future. Gooijer remains under contract in Amsterdam until mid-2029 and earns several hundred thousand euros per year, according to De Telegraaf.
So far, Gooijer has made 13 appearances for Ajax's first team and has also played 50 matches for Jong Ajax. Last season he went on loan to PEC Zwolle, where he made 25 appearances in total.
At Lommel, Gooijer could link up with Don-Angelo Konadu, who is on loan from Ajax at the Belgian club.
