Although defending champions Kedah demolished Premier League side UiTM FC 5-0 in the second group match of their Malaysia Cup campaign, the Red Eagles forward Syafiq Ahmad admitted that the university side were a tough side to beat.

In the match that was held at the UiTM Stadium on Friday, the 22-year old opened the scoring in the third minute, before Liridon Krasniqi (44'), Ken Ilso Larsen (80'), Sandro da Silva (90') and a Faiz Bandong own goal (90+3') compounded the university boys' misery.

However, Syafiq told the press that UiTM more than equalled the visitors, especially in the first half.

"UiTM are not a weak side. They had their own vision, and in the first half their tactics were different. In the first half we controlled the game, and in the second they changed their tactics to do more attacking.

"They managed to put us under pressure, we could not play our usual game and they were able to penetrate into the final third," he said in the post-match press conference.

He described the away win as an important one, in order to build up Kedah's momentum in the cup.

"Praise God, we got our first away win in the Malaysia Cup.

"Our target is to defend the title, and to record a win in our first away match will increase our confidence in the cup," explained the Malaysia U22 international.
