Matej Kovar will start in goal at the Philips Stadion. Sergiño Dest and Mauro Júnior are set to fill the right-back and left-back roles respectively. Ryan Flamingo and Armando Obispo make up the heart of the PSV defence.
In midfield, Kodai Sano replaces Veerman, who has left for Borussia Dortmund. Paul Wanner and Guus Til complete the Eindhoven side's midfield against the visitors from Groningen.
Out wide, the versatile Ivan Perisic starts on the right and Ruben van Bommel on the left. Ricardo Pepi will lead the line and provide the danger in front of the Groningen goal.
Last week, PSV edged past Exelsior 1-2. FC Groningen impressed with a commanding 1-4 away win over promoted side ADO Den Haag.
