Ivory Coast appoint Wilmots as coach

Former Belgium manager Marc Wilmots has been appointed head coach of Ivory Coast, it has been confirmed.

Wenger denies PSG agreement: It's fake news!

The 48-year-old has been out of football since his departure from the Red Devils after Euro 2016, having previously taken them to the quarter-finals of the World Cup.

Wilmots replaces French coach Michel Dussuyer who resigned from the role after the defending champions were eliminated from the Africa Cup of Nations at the group stage.

The former Schalke and Bordeaux midfielder is said to have signed a two year contract with the Elephants, which includes an option for a further two.

It is a quick highlight for Wilmots, coming just days after an airline company he invested €140,000 into after Euro 2016 went bankrupt.

Wilmots will have his first press conference as Ivory Coast boss on Wednesday, and then oversee his maiden game in charge two days later as they take on Russia on 24 March and Senegal on 27 March in friendlies.
