Real Madrid have officially unveiled new signing Marc Cucurella alongside club president Florentino Pérez, two days after he featured in his first match at the Santiago Bernabéu.
The World Cup winner with Spain and Chelsea took part in the ceremony to mark his arrival at the Whites.
According to Spanish newspaper Marca, Real Madrid made Cucurella's arrival official with a presentation whose details came together over recent days. The move comes two months after they stunned the football world by signing him in mid-June.
José Mourinho drove the deal through in a hurry. The Real Madrid coach made the player an absolute priority to strengthen the left-back position, a role the Catalan did not start in last Saturday at Cornellà. He still got some minutes, a clear prelude to a place in the starting line-up.
Cucurella returns to the Bernabéu pitch next Wednesday against Real Sociedad. He has not set foot there since March 2024, a moment that changed the course of his life. That night he started for Spain against Brazil after a call-up to cover the absence of Gayà, and Luis de la Fuente leaned on him as an indispensable left-back from that day on. It was a path that eventually led him to Real Madrid.
Speaking after his first training sessions with his new team, Cucurella laid bare his feelings about this new chapter: "I am extremely happy. There is a lot of hard work behind all of this, and all the effort I have put in throughout these years was worth it. I am very happy with everything that is happening to me and I hope it continues this way, by collecting titles, and above all enjoying this experience."
He also thanked the Real Madrid fans: "I have received many messages and I will always try to give my best in all the minutes that I play. I think the most important thing, and what we all want, is to win titles with this shirt."
