Jude Bellingham got Real Madrid's season up and running, heading Los Blancos in front against Espanyol inside nine minutes of the second-round La Liga clash currently under way between the two sides.
The goal came from a set piece. Arda Guler swung it in from the left after Vinicius won a foul, and Bellingham climbed highest to nod home and hand his side an early lead.
It carried extra weight too. Not only was it Real Madrid's first official goal of the campaign, it was also the team's first under Jose Mourinho on his official debut since returning to the helm at the Royal club.
Mourinho named a starting XI of Courtois, Dumfries, Konate, Huijsen, Carreras, Bernardo Silva, Valverde, Arda Guler, Bellingham, Vinicius Junior and Mbappe.
