Ajax are set to sign Viktor Tysgankov in the short term, Nil Solà reports. The Spanish journalist from Cadena SER says the deal is worth four million euros plus one million in bonuses. Mike Verweij of De Telegraaf has confirmed the news and adds that personal terms are not a problem.
Solà, who is close to developments at Girona, says the Ukrainian is still due to fly to Amsterdam on Monday to complete the move. Verweij has confirmed that too.
Offloading Tsygankov is important for Girona. The relegated club want the right winger off the wage bill.
Last week, the player also found himself at loggerheads with the club. He refused to play for Girona and shared private chats on Instagram to force through a transfer, after which the Spanish side started legal proceedings.
Míchel, now Ajax head coach, knows Tsygankov well. The two worked together at Girona.
With only one year left on his contract and the conflict still hanging over him, Girona are keen to get rid of Tsygankov. That has left Ajax able to sign him for a very low fee. According to Transfermarkt, he is worth fifteen million euros.
In total, Tsygankov made 119 appearances for Girona. He scored twenty goals and provided 23 assists.
