    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Accrington chairman Andy Holt responded to that revelation by saying “the last thing football needs is stupid mistimed statements”. His side would have the last laugh on the day as they secured a notable 2-0 victory over fellow promotion hopefuls – with Paul Mullin missing a penalty for Wrexham.

  • WHAT THEY SAID

Holt is refusing to let the issue go and has posted on social media after learning that prominent members of Wrexham's fan base and board were able to watch the game live despite not being in the country. He has said: “And @Wrexham_AFC streamed the match internationally, a match that WE paid for and hosted, without us receiving a single $cent. Under rules set by previous employee of @EFL who now works for Wrexham. So don’t start me off.”

  • WHAT NEXT?

Shaun Harvey, the former EFL CEO, is now an advisor at Wrexham. He has helped Reynolds and McElhenney throughout their reign in North Wales, with his vast experience being put to good use as the club pushes for back-to-back promotions.
