It has been revealed that Inter Miami superstar Messi is refusing to appear on the American television network due to their ties with Carragher. The ex-England international has previously admitted to being called a “donkey” by the eight-time Ballon d’Or winner.

While there is no sign of the pair patching up their differences, CBS Sports have lined up a doppelganger to deliver a Christmas message to Carragher. The lookalike said on Wednesday night: “This is a message for Jamie. As it is the season of goodwill, no one should be alone at Christmas. I have decided that you should Never Walk Alone. Here’s my Christmas gift to you…” The video then cuts to an image of a donkey.

Carragher was able to laugh along with the jokes being aimed in his direction, with the former Liverpool defender seeing the funny side of a long-running feud that he never intended to spark.

It remains to be seen whether Messi will ever relax his stance on Carragher, allowing the pair to get along, but for now the Argentine icon is looking to chase down more major honours with MLS outfit Inter Miami in 2024.
