  • WHAT HAPPENED?

Miedema and Mead will face off on Wednesday evening in a game that England simply have to win to keep their qualification hopes alive, after their opening-game defeat to France. The pair have been in a relationship since 2022 and both have previously won the competition.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Miedema and Mead played together for Arsenal between 2017 and 2024, before the former left to join Manchester City. Both have battled back from severe injuries to play at Euro 2025, but the Dutch striker insists the pair will relish the competition as they clash in a do-or-die fixture.

  • WHAT MIEDEMA SAID

Miedema told reporters: “You know both what you’re going through, we’re both at a big tournament. We can talk about everything, but not about the game. I have no idea if she can start or if she comes in like a substitute. The only thing we tell each other is whether we feel good or not.

“But tomorrow we won’t be friends on the field. I’m there as Dutch and I will do anything to win that match. If that's not good for Beth, I'm happy with it. It's part of the game. I have often been on the other side, but I am happy if we can continue tomorrow.”
