VIDEO: Lionel Messi & Cristiano Ronaldo get special shoutouts from England captain Harry Kane as Bayern Munich striker names some of his favourite players

Ronaldo and Messi among Kane's favourites

The England captain has played alongside, and against, some of the best players in the world during his career so far. He also knows a thing or two about scoring goals after netting 280 times in 435 appearances for Tottenham before moving to Bayern Munich. Kane has been prolific in the German top flight too, scoring 103 goals in 106 appearances for the Bundesliga giants, and finally ending his long wait for a trophy last season when Vincent Kompany's side were crowned Bundesliga champions.

GOAL asked Kane to name some of his favourite players and had no hesitation in picking out some of the best goalscorers the game has ever seen. Ronaldo and Messi were, perhaps inevitably, given a shoutout by the England captain, but there was also a few more surprising selections from the 32-year-old Bayern star.

Iniesta, Drogba and Crouch get Kane shoutout

Kane also had a few more names up his sleeve when quizzed on some of the best qualities in the game. Chelsea legend Didier Drogba was given the nod when it comes to strength, while Barcelona legends Andres Iniesta and Sergio Busquets were also given a shoutout by Kane. John Terry and Peter Crouch were other ex-England team-mates to get a mention, while Bayern left-back Alphonso Davies was recognised for his rip-roaring pace.

    Kane tops Tuchel's list

And while Kane has been naming his favourite stars, it's been no surprise to hear that he's very much at the top of England manager Thomas Tuchel's list. Kane took his international goals tally to 76 from 110 appearances with his latest brace against Latvia, leading to Tuchel being asked whether the Bayern star is the best striker he's ever worked with.

“He is on top of the list,” Tuchel told reporters after the game. “He is in top shape mentally and physically and full of confidence. It’s a pleasure.”

Der Klassiker up next for Kane

Kane has enjoyed a productive international break with England, with the 5-0 win over Latvia on Tuesday confirming the Three Lions' place at World Cup 2026. Kane is also now up to 20 goals for club and country this season, and will be hoping to extend that record on Saturday when Bayern face off against Dortmund in the Bundesliga at Allianz Arena. Victory for Kane and Co. would see the Bavarian giants open up a seven-point lead over Dortmund after just seven games of the 2025-26 season.
