USMNT, PSV defender Sergino Dest appears back in training after ACL injury, following social media post

U.S. international Sergino Dest appears to be back in PSV training after tearing his ACL last April during a training session with the Dutch club. The right-sided fullback has been sidelined since April, missing Copa America 2024 and the two fall camps under new USMNT manager Mauricio Pochettino.

The defender posted a series of photos on social media Wednesday as he works his way back from injury Wednesday morning. Among the selections were pictures of him sporting a PSV training top, him running on the pitch and wearing boots with grass clippings covering the cleats.

In 2023-24, Dest was well on his way to a career year, making 37 appearances across all competitions while scoring two goals and recording seven assists until his injury. The 24-year-old has 33 caps for the U.S., with two goals, and was firmly entrenched as starter under Greg Berhalter, under the past few years.

Now, with a new manager in Mauricio Pochettino, Dest will be looking to reclaim his spot but faces competition from Joe Scally.

Dest is a dual national, who ultimately chose the U.S. over the Netherlands - where he was born.

The American will look to make an official return to the pitch in 2025, with aim to be a part of the 2025 Concacaf Nations League finals with the USMNT. For the Dutch side, he will look to return and bring them his second-straight Eredivisie title.
