    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Cardoso has a release clause of €80m (£68m/$85m) in his contract, but the report states that Betis could accept a bid of around 30m (£25m/$32m) for the U.S. international if it arrived.

The defensive midfielder would bolster the ranks of both clubs, but competition for a starting role would arrive regardless of the landing spot. An important few months await Johnny, as he looks to lockdown a starting spot for the U.S. and now - a big-time move in La Liga.

  • DID YOU KNOW?

Cardoso is Brazilian-American, and opted to represent the U.S. instead of pursuing a career with the Selecao.
