Transfer trades of the week: Morgan Rogers to Chelsea, Johan Manzambi to Aston Villa & all the biggest done deals of the summer window

Former Chelsea defender Malang Sarr has joined Saudi Pro League side Neom SC on a free transfer following his departure from Lens. The Frenchman, who made eight Premier League appearances for the Blues between 2020 and 2024, played 19 times in Ligue 1 last season to help Lens book a spot in the Champions League for the 2026-27 campaign but has ultimately decided to seek a fresh start in Saudi Arabia.

Manchester United have moved to raid a Premier League rival by bringing in exciting young Tottenham winger Tynan Thompson. The 18-year-old joins the Red Devils for a fee worth around £8m, with Spurs having negotiated a 20 per cent sell-on clause as part of the deal. Thompson contributed 13 goals and six assists across Spurs' youth teams during the 2025-26 season.

Al-Hilal are closing in on the signing of West Ham winger Crysencio Summerville, with Marcos Leonardo's departure likely to have been sanctioned with a view to freeing up a spot in the squad for the Netherlands international. Leonardo, who scored an impressive 27 league goals in his two seasons in Saudi Arabia, now joins Dutch side Ajax for a fee reported to be just under the £17m mark.

Ipswich are preparing for their return to the Premier League and have added to their attacking options by completing the signing of Leicester City winger Abdul Fatawu. The Ghana international played in all four of his country's matches at the World Cup - including the 0-0 draw with England - and makes the £20m switch to the Tractor Boys after a 2025-26 season that saw him score nine goals in the Championship.

Fiorentina have bolstered their midfield ranks with the £25m signing of Christ Inao Oulai from Trabzonspor. Oulai, who played four times for Ivory Coast at the 2026 World Cup, will get the chance to test himself in Serie A and leaves the Turkish Super Lig side after just one season and 25 appearances in Turkey's top flight.

Francisco Trincao is the latest to head to the Middle East and join the Saudi Pro League, with the Sporting CP winger having signed for Al-Ahli. The Portugal international, who made one substitute appearance at the 2026 World Cup, has signed a four-year contract and will link up with England striker Ivan Toney at the Jeddah-based club.

Leeds United acted quickly to replace Pascal Struijk following his switch to Premier League rivals Brighton by bringing in Sassuolo defender Tarik Muharemovic. The Bosnia and Herzegovina international played three times at the 2026 World Cup, and was sent off in the 4-1 loss to Switzerland, and joins Daniel Farke's side for a fee of £34m, just shy of the club's transfer record that they paid for Georginio Rutter.

Wolves' relegation to the Championship meant that player sales were inevitable, with Joao Gomes the latest to have departed Molineux. The Brazilian made 130 appearances in all competitions for Wolves but has decided to move on to their Midlands rivals, with Aston Villa having paid a fee of £38m to land the 25-year-old midfielder.

Aston Villa have effectively secured their replacement for Morgan Rogers after announcing a deal to sign Johan Manzambi from Freiburg. The 20-year-old forward had been on the verge of joining Newcastle before Villa muscled their way in, with the £50m fee for Manzambi, who showed flashes of his quality with Switzerland at the 2026 World Cup, representing a club-record amount.

Chelsea have smashed the British transfer record with their mega £117m move for Aston Villa forward Morgan Rogers. The England international had been linked with the likes of Manchester United and Arsenal, although has decided his future lies at Stamford Bridge under Xabi Alonso, with Rogers signing an initial six-year contract.
