Toni Kroos is not finished yet! Real Madrid veteran set to sign surprise contract extension as reward for revitalised 2023-24 season

After seeming to be nearing the end of his career just 12 months ago, it appears that Kroos has opted to extend it. The Madrid midfielder is nearing a new contract with Los Blancos that will keep him in the Spanish capital until 2025, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Kroos has worked his way back into Madrid's XI this season, making 20 starts for Carlo Ancelotti's side in La Liga. It serves as a contrast to last season, when Ancelotti admitted that the midfielder should prepare for a "moment of transition" in the Spanish capital.

The midfielder has previously left his future up for debate, suggesting as recently as March 19: "Many things are not clear about what will happen after the Euros. I don’t even have a club contract for next season yet. I would have to clarify that first."

Kroos seems set to stay in Madrid until at least 2025. Until then, he figures to be a regular for Los Blancos. The Spanish side take on Athletic Club on Sunday as they look to maintain their convincing lead atop La Liga.
