  • WHAT HAPPENED?

Hilario's move brings to an end an 18-year stay at the west London club. Having joined Chelsea as a player in 2006, the Portuguese stayed on in a coaching role at the end of his career but will now depart to join former Blues boss Tuchel at England.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

According to The Telegraph, Hilario was open to a job-share but Chelsea refused his request. The Blues are unlikely to replace the 49-year-old given Enzo Maresca already has goalkeeping coach Michele De Bernardin and assistant Willy Caballero on his staff.

  • DID YOU KNOW?

Tuchel begins his new role as England head coach on January 1. His backroom team currently includes Hilario as goalkeeping coach, Anthony Barry as his assistant and Chelsea's former head of performance analysis, James Melbourne. The German's full backroom team will be announced soon. Ashley Cole won't be included, however, with the former Chelsea defender re-joining Lee Carsley with the Under-21s.
