The Swede has revealed that, at the age of 75, he may have less than a year to live following <a href="https://www.goal.com/en/lists/sven-goran-eriksson-ill-cancer-england-manager/blt9baa029493cd4bcd#csc2ef26b4815880ac " target="_blank">a terminal cancer diagnosis</a>. He has said: “Everyone understands that I have an illness that is not good. Everyone guesses it's cancer, and it is. But I have to fight as long as I can.”

Eriksson has revealed that one of his <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-in/lists/england-sven-goran-eriksson-brazil-friendly/bltbc969c213cd8779b " target="_blank">biggest regrets is missing out on the opportunity to coach Liverpool</a>. That situation may be about to change, with it reported that he could be <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-ng/lists/terminally-ill-sven-goran-eriksson-could-manage-liverpool-fans-want-support-dying-wish/bltb55248f06771c281#cs4e39160fb6259ecf" target="_blank">handed the Reds’ reins for a Legends tie with Ajax in March</a>.

Eriksson has told <a href="https://twitter.com/GMB/status/1746810013903896993 " target="_blank">Good Morning Britain</a> when asked about that potential opening: “I didn’t know that, I knew that they have a charity game in March I think it is and my son… I’m invited to see that game and that would be great because there will be a lot of great footballers there but I should be their manager? No, I’ve never heard that.”

WHAT ERIKSSON SAID

Quizzed on whether he would accept any offer from Liverpool, Eriksson added: “I would accept of course! That’s always been my dream but like a dream, I’m not complaining, I’ve had a lot of good football teams - national teams and the clubs so I’m happy.”
