Sheffield United interested in sensational Kyle Walker homecoming transfer with Man City considering sale after dramatic decline in veteran full-back's performance

Walker came through Sheffield United's academy before going on to become an England international and six-time Premier League winner with City. But his form this season has been a real concern and, at the age of 34, he could be moved on next summer as Pep Guardiola tries to freshen up his squad.

The right-back is expected to receive lucrative proposals from Saudi Arabia and MLS, but he may have the opportunity to remain in England with United. According to talkSPORT, the Blades are interested in re-signing Walker at the end of the season.

Sheffield United were relegated from the top-flight last season but they could bounce back at the first time of asking. Chris Wilder's side are top of the Championship with six wins in their past seven matches, including last week's victory over promotion rivals Sunderland. Promotion back to the Premier League would presumably make a return to Bramall Lane even more appealing to Walker, who has already expressed a desire to finish his career at his boyhood club.

"I’d like to finish at Sheffield United. That’s something that I would actually like to do," Walker told Rio Ferdinand's FIVE podcast earlier this year. "I’d like to go for as long as possible, to give back or even pass on my experience to the younger players that are coming through or players that are there then. If I can do that, then I’d like to, yeah.”

Walker struggled mightily in Sunday's 2-0 defeat to Liverpool, but he'll look to put things right when City host Nottingham Forest on Wednesday evening. Guardiola's side then travel to Crystal Palace on Saturday afternoon.
