PSG tell Lucas Beraldo to stay despite centre-back wanting summer transfer as Ligue 1 side set asking price for Galatasaray target

According to L’Equipe, PSG centre-back Beraldo has formally requested to leave the club during the ongoing transfer window. Beraldo, 21, arrived from Sao Paulo in January 2024 for €20 million (£17m/$23m) and has struggled for consistent starts, particularly after a poor showing in the Club World Cup final against Chelsea. PSG are not considering his departure unless two conditions are met: the signing of a new centre-back and a minimum €30m (£26m/$35m) transfer fee. Galatasaray are interested in signing him, while his agents have reached out to the likes of Manchester United, Chelsea, Liverpool and Bournemouth to gauge interest.

Beraldo’s transfer request follows limited game time behind Marquinhos and Willian Pacho in Luis Enrique’s central defensive pecking order. Keen for regular minutes to boost his prospects ahead of the 2026 World Cup, the Brazilian has communicated his desire to the PSG hierarchy. Despite being rated for his potential, doubts over his ability to establish himself after high-profile setbacks have contributed to Beraldo pushing for a move.

PSG have communicated that Beraldo will only be allowed to leave if a suitable replacement - most likely Bournemouth’s Illia Zabarnyi is secured. PSG have set a minimum asking price of €30m for Beraldo, rejecting any notion of a cut-price deal. The club insists they will retain Beraldo if defensive reinforcements cannot be finalised, in order to maintain squad depth as Presnel Kimpembe is still recovering from injury.

With less than a month remaining in the transfer window, PSG are actively negotiating for a new centre-back before sanctioning any departure for Beraldo. The club’s next fixture is the UEFA Super Cup against Tottenham on August 13. Beraldo’s future will depend on PSG’s success in the market, with more offers expected in the coming weeks but with no move allowed until PSG’s high demands are met.
