PSG have now been dealt a double injury blow during the international break, as after Dembele's injury, Doue has now picked up a knock and has withdrawn from the France squad. According to journalist Fabrice Hawkins, Doue has suffered a calf injury and will leave the France squad immediately to undergo further scans and examinations.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Incidentally, it was Doue who replaced Dembele in France's World Cup qualifier against Ukraine on Friday. The 20-year-old came on as a second-half substitute after the Ballon d'Or frontrunner picked up a hamstring injury. Les Bleus went on to win the clash 2-0.

Another report from Hawkins claims that Dembele has been ruled out of action for six weeks and the French star will miss his club's Champions League opener against Atalanta and key Ligue 1 fixture against rivals Marseille. Doue, on the other hand, has been ruled out of action for the Atalanta game.

  • DID YOU KNOW?

Dembele's injury left PSG fuming as they had earlier warned the national team medical staff over protecting the winger, as the European champions knew that Dembele was fatigued and playing under such conditions would have made him susceptible to a fitness issue.
