The Red Dragons emphatically bounced back from their 2-0 defeat to Accrington Stanley last weekend with a commanding victory over Morecambe on Saturday. The hosts took the lead in the fifth minute when Joel Senior bundled the ball into his own net from close range, with Andy Cannon right on his shoulder, from Mullin's dangerous cross.
Cannon then turned provider when his fizzing delivery was swept home by Mullin from 10 yards just two minutes later with a first time finish. Substitute Jacob Mendy, who replaced the injured Anthony Forde, then turned on the style in the 35th minute with an Arjen Robben-esque run, cutting inside the Morecambe defence, before smashing a fierce drive into the roof of the net.
Mullin made it 4-0 in the 67th minute as his deflected strike from the edge of the box went under Morecambe's hapless goalkeeper Adam Smith and then the 29-year-old bagged his first hat-trick of the season as he took one touch to get away from a defender, before stroking the ball into the corner with aplomb.
James Jones scored a late goal to add some shine. Phil Parkinson's side are now up to second, meaning they sit in the automatic promotion spots.
