The duo, who are co-owners of NWSL side Kansas City Current and minority owners of Sporting, showed up to the match at Arrowhead Stadium to take in the contest. The NFL quarterback was seen repping a Sporting kit, while wife Brittany was all smiles ahead of the highly anticipated match.

The match was moved from Children's Mercy Park - Sporting's soccer-specific stadium - to accommodate the large audience expected for the contest against the Herons. Arrowhead Stadium holds over 76,000 persons, and a near sellout is expected for a record attendance for a soccer match in the city. The last time Sporting played at the venue was 2007 against the LA Galaxy - where Miami co-owner David Beckham was on the pitch for their opposition.

Despite it being a home match, plenty of Messi and Miami kits were visible ahead of kickoff.

In 2023, Prince Harry himself showed up to catch a glimpse of the Argentine star in action, as the superstar couple are following the trend of celebrities attending the Herons matches with the eight-time Ballon d'Or winner.

The Herons will take on Nashville SC next weekend, looking to pull off a third-straight result against Gary Smith's side in 2024. Inter Miami pulled out a draw and a victory over two legs to knock them out in the Round of 16 of the CONCACAF Champions Cup.
