Neymar appears to mock Ousmane Dembele's struggles at PSG with savage response to former Barcelona winger's damning record in 2023-24

  • Neymar laughs at Dembele's PSG record
  • Has scored more goals for club this season
  • Brazilian remains out with ACL injury
  • WHAT HAPPENED?

Neymar appears to have rather savagely mocked Ousmane Dembele's record at Paris Saint-Germain this season in a post on social media. The Brazilian liked and replied with a laughing emoji to a post that compared the two forwards' goalscoring records for PSG this season. Dembele has managed one goal since his move from Barcelona, while Neymar scored twice in a 4-0 victory over Nantes in the French Super Cup before sealing a switch to Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Dembele joined PSG after the Ligue 1 club activated his €50 million (£43m/$55m) release clause. The Frenchman has been a regular for Luis Enrique but his return of one goal and seven assists from 20 Ligue 1 appearances is rather underwhelming. In contrast Neymar scored 118 goals in 173 appearances for PSG before moving to the Saudi Pro League in the summer. Yet it hasn't been a great season for the Brazilian either. Neymar has been ruled out since October with an ACL injury and is not expected back until next season.

    DID YOU KNOW?

Dembele's only PSG goal so far came on his 16th appearance in all competitions for the Ligue 1 champions. He is currently on a 12-match run without a goal for Luis Enrique's side.

WHAT NEXT FOR DEMBELE AND PSG

Dembele's next chance to end his current goalscoring drought comes on Friday when PSG head to Monaco in Ligue 1. The France international was on target the last time the two sides met back in November.
