Newcastle see huge Anthony Elanga offer rejected as Nottingham Forest send strong message

Eddie Howe's side are looking to add a right winger to the squad in the summer transfer window. The search has led them to make an offer for Elanga but it has been rejected outright, according to The Athletic. Forest have made it clear they have "no intention" of selling their winger after a season where he scored six goals and provided 11 assists in the Premier League.

The Magpies are now said to be deciding whether to continue their interest or look for alternatives. Howe is thought to be keen on both Bournemouth star Antoine Semenyo as well as West Ham United’s Mohammed Kudus. Semenyo has also been linked with Manchester United and Tottenham, while Spurs are also thought to have targeted Kudus, too.

Newcastle also tried to sign Elanga last summer. The Magpies offered £30m up front, Miguel Almiron and two more £5m payments but the transfer did not materialise.

Newcastle must now decide whether to try again for Elanga again or switch to a new target as they aim to strengthen their squad ahead of the start of the new season.
