Milan-Inter derby: banners and choreography return. AC Milan ultras’ choreography will span three tiers

The 247th derby between AC Milan and Inter will bring major changes on the pitch and in the stands. On Halloween night, record numbers will return to San Siro, along with a sight fans have not seen for a long time.

At the Meazza, the stands will once again feature banners and choreographed displays.

  • Record numbers

Tonight's derby is set to be the best-attended since March 2019. Safety coverings in the third tier at both ends will come down for the occasion, putting more than 2,500 seats back on sale.

Installed in 2019 to safeguard the stability of those sections, the coverings can now come down after the provincial supervisory commission approved the seats going back on sale. The derby is expected to draw more than 77,000 spectators.

  • Banners and choreographed displays return

Many banners (at least those not banned) and the famous choreographed displays will return to the stands after a long absence. They have been missing, in effect, since legal investigations into both curva sections began and numerous bans followed checks by Lega Serie A, the FIGC, the prefect and the police commissioner.

  • Choreography across three tiers vs scarf display

As ever, the ultras are keeping their plans under wraps. AC Milan supporters' display will cover the blue second tier, the first and third tiers, and parts of the curved orange and red sections at the sides of the second tier. A large central banner is also expected, along with a plastic card on every seat for fans to hold up towards the sky and form the final image. In the Curva Nord, occupied by Inter supporters and guests on this occasion, reports so far point to an imposing display of Inter scarves.
