'One more chance' - Mikel Arteta issued final warning to turn Arsenal into Premier League winners after another trophyless season

Since taking over in 2019, the manager has overseen a transformation in style and mentality. However, Arsenal’s cabinet has remained bare for nearly four years, with their last taste of success being the 2020 FA Cup final triumph over Chelsea. For a club of Arsenal’s size and history, near misses and steady progress are no longer sufficient.

This season offered Arsenal multiple opportunities to claim long-awaited glory, but they ultimately came up short. The team’s promising run in the Champions League ended in heartbreak, as they were eliminated by Paris Saint-Germain at the semi-final stage. That European exit, coupled with another likely second-place finish in the Premier League, has fuelled concerns over whether Arteta is capable of delivering major honours.

Former Arsenal captain William Gallas has added fuel to the fire by suggesting that Arteta’s time to prove himself is running out. In a candid assessment with Casino Games, Gallas argued: "After five years on the Arsenal bench, we can say that Mikel Arteta isn’t at the elite level. He needs to win the Premier League in order to reach that. It looks like he is going to stay, so I think the club is giving him one more chance next season. If he doesn’t win the Premier League then, after six years, we can say he isn’t in the top level of managers. Look at Xabi Alonso, three years at Leverkusen and he won three titles."

The message from within and outside the club is clear: Arteta has one more shot. With a talented squad, a clear philosophy, and continued backing from the board, the ingredients for success are all there. The only missing piece is a major trophy.
