Man Utd and Real Madrid facing transfer snub with outstanding left-back target set to renew contract with current club

United and Madrid are said to be interested in signing the France international in the summer transfer window to strengthen their options at left-back, though Milan are determined to make sure he stays for the time being.

The Rossoneri appear set to tie the 27-year-old down to a new deal as Calciomercato reports that talks have progressed significantly and the parties are close to an agreement. Hernandez is expected to sign a deal worth around €6.5 million (£5m/$7m) per year until 2029.

Hernandez's importance to Milan this season was best summed up by his display in the Supercoppa Italiana final victory against city rivals Inter on Monday, as he scored directly from a free-kick to give his side a chance after they fell 2-0 down and then set up Christian Pulisic's equaliser. They then scored a stoppage time winner through Rafael Leao.

United and Madrid will be anxiously awaiting news on Hernandez's future. If the full-back, who made 23 appearances for Madrid in a pervious spell at the Santiago Bernabeu, signs a new deal, the English and Spanish giants will have to go looking for a new option.
