Man Utd player ratings vs Leicester City: Good news, Ruben Amorim - Bruno Fernandes is flying! Captain celebrates 250th Red Devils appearance in style as Ruud van Nistelrooy signs off with a win

Ruud van Nistelrooy ended his brief spell as Manchester United manager just as he began it, with a dazzling win over Leicester City in which Bruno Fernandes took centre stage.

The United captain celebrated his 250th appearance for the club before kick-off and got his side off to an ideal start by curling into the bottom corner from outside the area. It was his first goal in the Premier League this season from open play, and Fernandes also had a huge part in United's second strike, stooping to head in a cross that deflected in off Victor Kristiansen.

It was a remarkably serene afternoon for United, which was a welcome change to the traumatic home games they have had to previously endure this season, and substitute Alejandro Garnacho rounded off the happy occasion with a sublime strike into the top corner from long range to make it 3-0.

Van Nistelrooy saluted the fans as he walked down the tunnel and he can be very happy with his four games in charge, leaving Amorim with a more stable platform than the wreck he looked to be inheriting two weeks ago when Erik ten Hag was sacked.

    Goalkeeper & Defence

    Andre Onana (6/10):

Dealt well with the few attempts thrown at him, most notably putting Ndidi off. His kicking still needs work, though.

    Diogo Dalot (4/10):

Another iffy display, leading to him being replaced by Evans in the 57th minute.

    Matthjis de Ligt (7/10):

Always alert to and quickly on top of the danger.

    Lisandro Martinez (5/10):

Got dragged around a bit by Ayew and Fatawu.

    Noussair Mazraoui (6/10):

Always gave the attack options and set up the second goal.

    Midfield

    Manuel Ugarte (4/10):

Kept winning the ball and then losing it. Still has a lot to prove.

    Casemiro (8/10):

Dominant defensively, making many crowd-pleasing tackles. A reminder he can still deliver in the right system and against the right opponents.

    Bruno Fernandes (7/10):

    Made the difference in attack.

    Attack

    Amad Diallo (8/10):

Continued from his fine display against PAOK and dragged Leicester defenders all over the place. A nice cheeky backheel assist for the opener.

    Rasmus Hojlund (5/10):

Rarely got in dangerous positions and his build-up play needs a lot of work.

    Marcus Rashford (5/10):

Did very little of note and was rightly replaced early on.

    Subs & Manager

    Alejandro Garnacho (6/10):

Had a clumsy start and looked like nothing was coming off. Then he reminded everyone of his class with an unreal strike.

    Jonny Evans (6/10):

Quashed the little threat Leicester were posing.

    Joshua Zirkzee (5/10):

Saw very little of the ball.

    Christian Eriksen (6/10):

    Kept the play flowing.

    Manager (7/10):

Oversaw the most comfortable United home win in the Premier League since West Ham in February. Rewarded Amad with a start and was proactive with his substitutes. Three wins out of four games as interim boss while remaining undefeated.
