  • WHAT BARCELONA SAID

A club statement reads: "First-team player Ellie Roebuck suffered a traumatic brain injury without loss of consciousness as a result of a tackle during the warm-up of the match against Madrid CFF. The Barca goalkeeper will follow the established return to activity protocol in these cases before returning to the playing field and will be out for the next match."

  • THE BIGGER PICTURE

Roebuck has had a difficult couple of years after the 25-year-old admitted in March 2024 that she had suffered a stroke in 2023. She had nearly a year out from the game before returning to action in December. Now the former Manchester City star is dealing with this latest setback.
