  • WHAT HAPPENED?

Sancho looks set to end his Manchester United exile and leave the club for Dortmund this week, according to Sky reporter Christian Falk. Negotiations between the two clubs are described as "very concrete" and talks are nearly complete. Sancho will move on a loan deal, with Dortmund paying a fee and United covering a proportion of his salary.

  • THE BIGGER PICTURE

Sancho's departure has been expected after he was exiled from all first-team facilities at the club following a falling out with manager Erik ten Hag. The forward refused to apologise for a social media post where he claimed he had been "made a scapegoat" by the United boss. Ten Hag has explained his decision to exile Sancho was made to protect the culture of the club, with his last appearance for the Red Devils coming back in August 2023. Sancho now looks set to move on and will hope he can get his back career back on track at his former club.

    DID YOU KNOW?

Only Robert Lewandowski (115) was involved in more goals in the Bundesliga than Sancho (78) between 2018-19 and 2020-21. Yet Sancho was the only player in the German top flight to have over 30 goals and assists (37 goals, 41 assists).

    WHAT NEXT?

United and Dortmund will now look to complete a deal for the 23-year-old. It remains to be seen if the transfer will include a purchase option which would allow Sancho the chance to secure a permanent move back to the Bundesliga side.
