Italy vs Turkiye

Follow Italy v Turkey: fourth match of Nations League League A Group 1

Italy meet Turkey for the second time in this lengthy international break. Roberto Mancini's Azzurri head into the game after a 4-1 win in Turkey and an impressive 1-1 draw with France, and they need to back that up as they chase a top-two finish in Group 1 of Nations League A. That would bring quarter-final qualification after the November break and give them an edge in the draw for the European Championship qualifiers. Kick-off at the Dall'Ara stadium in Bologna is at 8.45pm

ITALY-TURKEY 1-0

SCORERS: 26' Scamacca (I)

  • Goal and key moments

40' Italy switch play from right to left and Ruggeri takes advantage of Doumbia's run to collect the ball on the edge of the box. He controls it and fires a right-footed shot that the defence deflect behind for a corner.

26' GOAL - Vergara and Di Lorenzo combine on the right before the Napoli full-back swings in a cross. Doumbia and Scamacca go up together in the middle of the box, and the midfielder's header strikes the striker on the back. The ball drops kindly and, in a flash, the Atalanta forward sets himself and thumps a right-footed shot that clips the crossbar on its way into the net.

17' CHANCE - Akgun breaks into the Italy penalty area again and tries to loop a header over Donnarumma, but the Italian goalkeeper is well placed and claims it high.

16'Turkey put together another good move from the back and find Khaveci between the lines. The ball then reaches Ozcan, who curls a shot goalwards and Donnarumma gathers well.

14' CHANCE - Kabak gets a shot away from the edge of the box. It is a fine, powerful low diagonal effort that Donnarumma gets down to and turns behind for a corner.

12' A dangerous vertical ball from defence catches Italy exposed. Khaveci's touch lets him down and the danger passes, but had he brought it under properly he would have been one-on-one with Donnarumma.

11' Scamacca controls the ball, shifts it on to his right foot and lets fly from the edge of the box with a powerful effort that misses the target.

0' Kick-off is at 20:45 at the Dall'Ara stadium in Bologna.
