Gio Reyna rediscovers smile in Nottingham Forest relegation battle as USMNT star looks to retain starting berth for crucial clash with Everton

The United States international has had to be patient in pursuit of regular game during a loan spell at the City Ground. Having moved to England from Borussia Dortmund in the winter transfer window, Reyna was initially restricted to a bit-part role in Nottingham.

He was, however, handed his first Premier League start in a 2-2 draw with Wolves and offered enough through 71 minutes in that fixture to suggest that he could have a more prominent role to play in Forest’s bid to avoid tumbling back into the Championship.

Reyna is, as a three-time CONCACAF Nations League winner, accustomed to performing under pressure. He looks to be ready for the challenges that lie ahead, with the 21-year-old in a relaxed mood as Forest prepare themselves for a fight to the finish.

The Reds, who have five games left to take in this season, will be back in action on Sunday when taking in a crucial trip to Everton – with two sides that have been docked points for FFP breaches continuing to look anxiously over their shoulder at the Premier League drop zone.
