Gerard Pique is back! Ex-Barcelona star announces intention to return to football as former defender reveals next move

The Catalan, who announced his retirement from professional football in November 2022, took to social media to confirm that he will return to football in 2024 and is all set to take up a managerial role.

In his X post, Pique wrote, "It's a new year and after thinking carefully I have decided to return to football. I miss him a lot. This time it won't be as a player. It will be as a coach. I'll share more details at the end of the week."

The former Spain international remained associated with the sport even after retirement. In 2018, he acquired Spanish club FC Andorra, through his company Kosmos Holding, while still being a player at Barcelona. Under his ownership, the team saw a meteoric rise in their stature as they came up to the second division from the fifth tier.

The ex-Barcelona captain did not reveal too much about his next career move but promised to give away more details by the end of this week.
