  • Heavy rainfall overnight postpones game
  • Pitch inspection made at 11.30am on Saturday
  • Wrexham face Colchester next week
  • WHAT HAPPENED?

The fixture between Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney's side and Forest Green had to be postponed because of heavy rainfall overnight. Forest Green's ground staff conducted a pitch inspection at the New Lawn Stadium on the morning of the game and decided it was unsuitable to play on.

    THE EXPLANATION

Characteristically heavy rainfall in the west of England had made the Forest Green pitch far too sodden and wet for the players to take to the field. The pitch was described as 'waterlogged' and the fixture will have to be rearranged for a later, dryer date. It is a blow for the high-flying Red Dragons, who would have wanted to continue their momentum and catch top-of-the-table Stockport.

  • WHAT WREXHAM SAID

In a statement, Wrexham stated: "Following a pitch inspection this morning, we can confirm that today’s fixture against Forest Green Rovers has been called off due to a waterlogged pitch.

"After a heavy downpour of rain overnight, the pitch was deemed unplayable and failed a pitch inspection at 11:30am.

"Details for the rearranged fixture and ticket information will be communicated in due course.

"We can confirm however that all supporters who travelled on Official Supporter Travel will be offered free transport to the rearranged fixture."

    WHAT NEXT FOR WREXHAM?

Wrexham's focus turns to next weekend's fixture with Colchester. Their opposition have been struggling in League Two and there is mounting pressure on the U's boss, former West Ham player Matthew Etherington, to get something out of a tricky game.
