    THE BIGGER PICTURE

While Xavi Simons, currently on loan at RB Leipzig from Paris Saint-Germain, is also being considered as an option, Wirtz remains the primary target. A move in 2025 is becoming more likely, with a transfer fee expected to exceed €100 million (£84m/$110m), making Wirtz one of the most expensive transfers in Bundesliga history. He is currently under contract with Leverkusen until 2027.

  • DID YOU KNOW?

Although Bayern are leading the race, European powerhouses such as Real Madrid and Manchester City are still in pursuit of Wirtz. Both clubs have been monitoring his development closely, hoping to add the gifted midfielder to their squads. However, according to Sky Sports, Wirtz is currently favouring a move to Bayern before considering a future transfer outside the Bundesliga.

In just six Bundesliga matches, Wirtz has already scored four goals and provided one assist, with another two strikes in the Champions League. He has been called up by Julian Nagelsmann for Germany's upcoming Nations League fixtures and will be in action against Bosnia and Herzegovina on October 11.
