FC Cincinnati's Evander earns MLS Player of the Matchday honor after stellar performance against Inter Miami

Evander delivered a standout performance in FC Cincinnati's statement 3-0 victory over Eastern Conference rival Inter Miami CF at TQL Stadium on Wednesday night and was named MLS Player of the Matchday as a result.

The Brazilian midfielder broke open a tightly contested match with two second-half goals, helping Cincinnati secure three crucial points against Lionel Messi and company in a high-stakes battle between Supporters' Shield contenders. The victory strengthened Cincinnati's position near the top of the Eastern Conference standings and snapped Miami's recent winning streak.

Since arriving in Cincinnati from Danish side Midtjylland before the start of the 2023 season, Evander has established himself as one of MLS's premier playmakers. This latest Player of the Matchday recognition represents his fourth such honor, having earned the award at least once in each of his three MLS seasons.

FC Cincinnati face a challenging road trip to Real Salt Lake on Saturday, followed by a quick rematch against Inter Miami in South Florida on Saturday, July 26.
