    WHAT HAPPENED?

Lee's fast start to the season has seen him already match the 12 league goals he scored during last season's historic promotion. His strike partner Mullin has so far hit seven goals after missing the first month of the season after the horror injury he suffered in the club's pre-season tour of America. Refreshingly, Lee revealed that the pair are cheering each other on, willing each other to be the club's top scorer.

    WHAT ELLIOT LEE SAID

"We have a laugh about it but he [Mullin] wants me to score more and I want him to score more," Lee told the Wrexham Leader. "I want him to beat me, he wants me to beat him. That's the type of lads we have in there.

"I hope Mulls comes and beats me because that means we are scoring a lot of goals, and I want to be celebrating with the team at the end of the season.

"Personal accolades are lovely but I always think that at the end of the season, if I get top goalscorer, player of the season or whatever, I can't really celebrate with anyone else if we don't get promoted."

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Lee's comments reveal a great team spirit at the Racecourse Ground, but behind the camaraderie there's a practical point at play as Wrexham are going to need plenty of goals in what's shaping up to be an epic title race. Free-scoring Stockport County have set the pace, hitting 49 goals while opening up a six-point lead at the top of League Two. Mullin and Lee will both need to keep scoring if Wrexham are to be in the mix for a second consecutive promotion.

  • WHAT NEXT FOR ELLIOT LEE AND PAUL MULLIN?

A huge run of three matches in just ten days gets underway tomorrow with a fiery Welsh derby, a game that will see the atmosphere boosted by a new, temporary Kop stand, returning the Racecourse Ground to a four-sided stadium for the first time since 2008.
