'Sometimes the dream has to wait' - Cristiano Ronaldo issues emotional statement after Al-Nassr are consigned to another trophyless season

Ronaldo has had to endure yet another frustrating trophyless season in Saudi Arabia as Al-Nassr crashed out of the AFC Champions League, losing 3-2 against Kawasaki Frontale in the last-four stage. Al-Nassr had exited the King's Cup in October last year, and in the Saudi Pro League, they are trailing leaders Al-Ittihad by eight points with only five matches left in the season.

As Ronaldo's wait for a major trophy in Saudi Arabia continued, the 40-year-old took to social media to thank the fans for their constant support. He also heaped praise on his colleagues who gave their all on the pitch.

On X, the former Real Madrid and Manchester United star wrote: "Sometimes the dream has to wait. I’m proud of this team and everything we gave on the pitch. Thank you to all the fans who believed in us and stood by us every step of the way. Your support means the world."

Stefano Pioli's side will have to win their upcoming Saudi league clash against Al-Ittihad on May 7 if they want to keep their title hopes alive.
