The pair missed the Reds' midweek win over Luton Town and failed to make the squad for Sunday's showpiece. Dominik Szoboszlai also misses out.

Liverpool's attack is led by Cody Gakpo and Luis Diaz with Harvey Elliott providing support. A youthful bench features several teenagers as Jurgen Klopp's squad remains stretched to its limits.

There were no such selection headaches for the Blues' Mauricio Pochettino who was able to call on a strong squad. Mykhailo Mudryk and Christopher Nkunku are named on the bench, while Thiago Silva's absence continues.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Just a few short weeks ago Chelsea fans were dreading the prospect of going up against a rampant Liverpool side after they were destroyed at Anfield and in disarray after a spectacular collapse at home to Wolves which saw Thiago Silva's wife calling for Pochettino to go.

But a morale-boosting FA Cup win over Aston Villa and a strong performance at the Etihad against Manchester City has seen Chelsea fans heading down Wembley Way in an optimistic mood, further boosted by Liverpool's injury list.

WHAT NEXT FOR CHELSEA AND LIVERPOOL?

Wembley is filling up as the pair go head-to-head for the season's first silverware which has become a much more competitive prospect than when the pair won their semi-finals.

Chelsea fans will be hoping their side take another step forward, where Reds fans place their faith in youth and the emotional drive of Klopp's final months in charge.
