Cesc Fabregas to the rescue for Barcelona's wantaway goalkeeper as Como line up transfer offer

According to Sport Italia, Como are eyeing a new goalkeeper and see Pena as the ideal target, with his Barcelona contract expiring in 2026. The Italian side also considered German keeper Kevin Trapp, but Cesc Fabregas is focused solely on the Spanish keeper and could play a key role in luring him to Como.

Barcelona coach Hansi Flick is dealing with a goalkeeping crisis at Camp Nou. Marc-Andre ter Stegen is sidelined for three months and involved in a public dispute with the club, while new signing Joan Garcia and Wojciech Szczesny, who penned a new deal after his previous one had expired, are yet to be registered for the upcoming season. As a result, Pena is the only senior goalkeeper available, forcing Barca to block a transfer as Flick called him up for the pre-season tour of Asia.

Fabregas’ Como have been busy in the summer transfer window, making 11 signings including Maxime Perrone from Manchester City and Nicolas Kuhn from Celtic. The club also managed to retain star midfielder Nico Paz, while a deal for Spanish striker Alvaro Morata is nearing completion.

Pena will hope to have clarity over his future as Barcelona will look to sort out their goalkeeping situation as they look for different measures to register Garcia and Szczesny for the upcoming season.
