Casemiro insisted he is happy to remain at United amid rumours that clubs in Saudi Arabia were swooping for his signature. The Brazilian joined the club in 2022 as one of Erik ten Hag's first key signings and was vital to the Red Devils finishing the top four last term. However, with injuries and suspensions limiting his playing time, speculation that he may depart has been rampant.

    WHAT CASEMIRO SAID

Speaking to MBC, Casemiro said: "It's all amazing, since the first day, I was made to feel very welcome by the club, the players and the fans.

"I received so much love - on and off the pitch. It was a unique and magical experience, and I needed such an experience. I am so happy in Manchester with everything the city and the club offer me.

"I am happy with that and with helping the club improve and get back to the path of achievements. So yeah, I'm happy to play for Manchester United."

  • THE BIGGER PICTURE

United will be desperate for Casemiro to return as they have suffered with a lack of depth in midfield this season. Young academy product, Kobbie Mainoo, has exceeded expectations to fill the void in front of the defensive line adequately - but, the 18-year-old cannot do the job on his own for the whole season. Casemiro will be a welcome tutor for the youngster.

    WHAT NEXT FOR CASEMIRO?

United and Casemiro will be hoping his return will be sooner rather than later. There is an outside chance that the Brazilian will return tomorrow against Newport County in the FA Cup Fourth Round for Erik Ten Hag's side.
