  • Hollywood superstars regulars at SToK Racecourse
  • Like to bring famous friends along
  • Household names being made of local heroes
  • WHAT HAPPENED?

Landlord Wayne Jones is now as famous around SToK Racecourse as the Hollywood icons that occupy the club’s boardroom, with the ‘Welcome to Wrexham’ documentary series making stars of local heroes. Jones is in regular contact with Reynolds and his fellow co-chairman Rob McElhenney, but would like to put them to work at his watering hole rather than seeing them sink pints with the locals.

    WHAT JONES SAID ABOUT REYNOLDS

Jones has told Men In Blazers of receiving texts from ‘Deadpool’ star Reynolds while cleaning the toilets at The Turf: “Yeah, weird. I mean it’d be better if he came down and did the hoovering or something obviously! He can come and give us a hand anytime.”

  • THE BIGGER PICTURE

A-list visitors are now par for the course at Wrexham games, with many stopping for refreshments at The Turf before and after Red Dragons games. Jones added on playing host to Hollywood royalty: “Ryan and Rob were the first, obviously. Naturally, because they bought the club. And then Will Ferrell came in. Cracking guy, really down to earth. He had about five Madri’s in about half an hour! What surprised me with him was I was told later that he’s 57 – guy looks about 105! Like I just couldn’t quite believe it, and I was like 57! His mate was like, he’s 57. I was like f*ck off! My wife is a huge Friends fan so when I told her Paul Rudd was coming… When he pulled into the car park, I was like ‘listen, before the chaos and everybody wants a picture and all the rest of it, can you come and say hello to my wife?’ He was very humble, gave her a lovely hug. She nearly collapsed. Nearly left me on the spot!”

There has been plenty to celebrate at The Turf of late, with Wrexham landing the National League title in record-breaking style last season. They are now flying high in League Two, with Jones and co being swept along for the most remarkable of sporting rides.
