Just in time! Barcelona finally register new signings Marcus Rashford & Joan Garcia with La Liga ahead of season opener against Mallorca

Despite interest from other European clubs, Rashford’s unwavering desire to wear the famous Blaugrana shirt has now been rewarded. After the registration process was completed, his name appeared on La Liga’s official transfers list, bringing an end to the saga.

Barcelona’s wage bill has been under severe scrutiny from La Liga, forcing the club into difficult sales this summer. Young stars were cashed in on, while experienced names like Clement Lenglet, Ansu Fati and Inigo Martinez were moved on. Further exits are still expected to balance the books, with Oriol Romeu, Inaki Pena and Hector Fort all tipped to leave.

Barcelona president Joan Laporta personally confirmed the news while speaking at a gathering of Barca supporter groups on the Balearic Islands. Addressing fans at the 35th anniversary of the Penya Barcelonista Maria de la Salut, Laporta declared: "If Flick wants, Rashford and Joan Garcia can play tomorrow.”

The constant registration drama has become a hallmark of recent seasons, as La Liga president Javier Tebas continues to enforce strict regulations. However, Barca’s financial manoeuvring may not be over yet as Wojciech Szczesny, Gerard Martin and Roony Bardghji remain unregistered and were omitted from the Mallorca squad.

With Robert Lewandowski sidelined through injury, Saturday's clash against Mallorca could see Rashford thrust straight into the starting line-up. His direct competition will be Ferran Torres, and it remains to be seen if Flick is ready to hand Rashford the No.9 role from the outset.
