Arsenal in talks with Bundesliga side Stuttgart over Fabio Vieira transfer as Gunners look to ditch €40m transfer flop

According to The Athletic, Stuttgart have approached Arsenal with an offer to secure a permanent transfer of Vieira this summer and the Gunners are also willing to offload the out-of-favour attacking midfielder. While the two clubs have yet to reach an agreement, the transfer talks are progressing rapidly.

Arsenal spent €35m plus €5m in add-ons to sign Vieira from FC Porto in 2022 and in his maiden season at the Emirates, the Portuguese star appeared in 22 Premier League matches, out of which he started in only three games. In the following season, he once again struggled for minutes and appeared in the starting lineup in just two top-flight matches.

In August last year, Vieira headed back to his boyhood club Porto, where he played in 42 matches across all competitions as the club finished third in Liga Portugal, behind Benfica and champions Sporting CP.

Arteta's side are back from their pre-season tour of Asia and will next feature in a friendly match at home against Villarreal this Wednesday.
