Arne Slot blames Liverpool 'errors' for loss as Curtis Jones & Andy Robertson gift Fulham goals in chaotic turnaround

Curtis Jones and Andy Robertson's defensive errors in the first half proved costly for Liverpool as they went down 3-2 against Fulham at Craven Cottage on Sunday. Alexis Mac Allister handed the visitors an early lead, but the hosts came back strongly in the match as they scored three goals in a span of 14 minutes. Diogo Jota then pulled one back for the Reds in the second half, but it was Marcos Silva's side who had the last laugh.

Speaking to Sky Sports after the loss, Reds boss Slot said: "That was a difficult spell of 14 minutes [three goals conceded]. Apart from [Fulham's] quality and finishing, it was mostly to do with our errors. In general, we are not making many of these errors - let alone three in one game.

"Our second half performance was so much better but it is hard to win a game at this level if you concede three in the first half. Unfortunately, we lacked time in the end to score a third. People want to make stories, which is their job. Many teams find it difficult to play Fulham. The second half performance was outstanding. We had chances, but in the end, we lacked time."

Speaking in his post-match press conference, the Dutch manager defended his players' performances as he added: "I think overall we played a good game. We prepared the game in the way the game was, in terms of starting one way and finishing the other way. We played Thursday night, demanding game, 24 hours less than them.

"Tricky stadium, tricky game. Sunny day, the pitch was dry. They tried to kill the tempo of the game, so for me, it was a complete game."But overall, as I said, I think we did enough to win the game. We shot more than 20 times and probably the only thing we missed has been the goal, but overall happy with the performance."

Thanks to Arsenal dropping points at Everton on Saturday, Liverpool continue to enjoy an 11-point lead at the top of the table despite the loss against Fulham. They will next face West Ham in the Premier League on April 13 at Anfield.
