Anthony Gordon tipped to be Liverpool’s ‘next Mohamed Salah’ as Arne Slot told Newcastle star would be 'brilliant signing' for Reds

Gordon has impressed for Newcastle since moving from Everton in January 2023 and has recently been tipped to join Liverpool. Ex-Red Hamman, speaking on behalf of Top Offshore Casinos, believes the Englishman has all the qualities needed to replace Mohamed Salah, whose future on Merseyside remains uncertain.

Hamman said: "We’ve seen Anthony Gordon have a huge impact in the Premier League. He did so at Everton even when they were struggling and after a tough start at Newcastle he has battled through and he's one of their best players now. I read somewhere that Liverpool is his boyhood club and I think it would be a brilliant signing, it also looks like Newcastle might need to sell some players this summer too. It depends on what Salah does.

"It's been said for the last few years that it's his last season and that he's going to go in the summer. So obviously we need to find out and see what's happening but I think Gordon would be a brilliant signing because obviously going forward, if you've got pace, it just changes games. He had a brilliant season for Newcastle and we need somebody who steps up and scores these goals in important games."

It is a new era at Liverpool and it may be the perfect time for Arne Slot to introduce some fresh faces at the club. The likes of Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Andy Robertson are now all in their 30s and planning for the future with players like Gordon would be a step in the right direction for the Reds.

Gordon is enjoying a late holiday after featuring for England at Euro 2024. There are yet to be any concrete reports suggesting that Liverpool will make a move for the 23-year-old, but that may change as the new Premier League season approaches.
