    The Frenchman became the one of two defenders to suffer another injury this season as he hobbled with an apparent groin injury towards the end of an exciting first half that ended 2-2 after Chelsea took a two-goal lead. Jonny Evans replaced the French World Cup winner in the centre of defence alongside Harry Maguire.

    Just 20 minutes into his appearance, however, Evans was also taken off for Marcus Rashford after an apparent injury. Ten Hag will be sweating with worry regarding the fitness of his backline as the Red Devils have seen multiple injury issues throughout the entire backline. Varane and Evans were only just declared fit to be in action for Ten Hag's side after Victor Lindelof and Lisandro Martinez were ruled out for at least one month.

    After Chelsea took a two-goal lead in the first 20 minutes of the game thanks to goals from Conor Gallagher and Cole Palmer. However, the Red Devils rallied back with two goals in five minutes with goals by Alejandro Garnacho and Bruno Fernandes. A second-half header from Garnacho gave United the lead just after Evans was taken off by Ten Hag.
